This is a diptych pair of pillows inspired by a still life floral painting at the Rijsmuseum. The date of the painting has been estimated at 1700 - 1799 and the artist is anonymous. The strokes of paint used to enliven each flower from meticulous renderings of petals, stems and leaves give life to a beautiful bouquet. A baby blue background offers an elegant backdrop. In this diptych an oak tree comes to life on a water color painting originally made by the artist George Andies Roth (1809 - 1887). The work is a magnificent study of watercolor and the effects of light in nature. This painting currently resides in the Rijksmuseum collection of fine arts.
