Snowflake Pillow Covers

I never realized how varied snowflakes can be.  These snow flake images were originally photographs taken from Wilson Bentley, a prolific photographer of snowflakes.  After some magnification, coloration and positioning, these snowflake pillow covers bring some holiday spirit to the season.  Enjoy more at:  http://www.poeticpillow.com/holiday.html

Patchwork Plaids

As the seasons change, and we get nippier into the holidays, plaid seems natural to layer and bundle.  These plaid pillow covers are slightly varied from traditional lumberjack attire.  We've taken traditional prints, some from textiles, and brightened the colors, chosen certain grids for emphasis and brought to life a new variation on an old theme.  Enjoy.

Giving Coasters New Life as Pillow Covers

In a recent bout of fall cleaning I came across some old coasters that were purchased on a trip to Japan over 10 years ago.  When I first saw them they were so vibrant in color and timeless in design.

Over time, their colors have faded from being exposed to the sun, constant use, and from many washings.

The result is the latest series of pillow covers in the Origami Collection at Poetic Pillow.  
While they are beautiful as coasters, I wanted to preserve the images.  I took each coaster, scanned them on my flatbed scanner, and produced raw digital files of the textile prints.  The images were great, but they were the original coasters that I remember during my trip to Japan.  I proceeded to adjust the images manually using software applications to refine the exposure, bring out colors for more vibrancy, and position the patterns more symmetrically.
