It’s said that when impressionist painter Claude Monet first saw the town of Giverny from a train window, he was so taken with it, he decided to move there. While living there Monet created some of the most moving garden paintings in existence, including a work from the “Water Lilies” series, which is expected to go for at least $30 million at auction next month. Enjoy the romance of a French country garden in the Houzz Shop.

Poetic Pillow will be at the SFIGF San Francisco International Gift Fair this summer. The Fair will take place in Moscone Center North in San Francisco from July 25-28. The theme for this year's Fair is Raise Your Expectations. Poetic Pillow will be featuring a new line of botanical pillows. These will include imperial art pillows inspired from the Qing and Ming dynasty as well as ukiyo-e inspired pillows.
Just received our sample pillows from our Shuki line. These pillows were inspired by the works of Okamoto Shuki, and artists well known for his hand painted works on silk. In the last few months we have been working on adapting a few botanical works into textile formats. After meticulous grafting, adjustments in color and exposure, we were able to adapt works into a pillow. Stay tuned for more pillows to come.
April is National Poetry Month.
Inaugurated by the Academy of American Poets in 1996, National Poetry Month, held every April, is the largest literary celebration in the world with schools, publishers, libraries, booksellers, and poets celebrating poetry’s vital place in our culture. Join the celebration by requesting a free poster and displaying it proudly. Encourage young people to participate in our Dear Poet project or Poem in Your Pocket Day. Follow poetry events taking place nationwide at@POETSorg, and tweet about your own using #npm15. http://www.poets.org/national-poetry-month/home Just finished photographing some new pillows. These may look familiar from works in the Ming and Qing dynasties. But what separates these are the colors and resolutions. Each has been manually adjusted in several iterations to highlight a more flattering exposure with care to accentuate contrast and coloration. My favorite is Purple Blossoms inspired by Yun Shouping's study in One Hundred Flowers; note how the shades of pink, purple, and fuchsia float lively in a bed of minty greens.
