William Henry Hewitson devoted himself to scientific studies after a stint as a land surveyor. A gifted entomologist, his collections of butterflies were among the most important in Europe in the 19th century. We love the brilliant orange, rust, and red in this work in particular. His illustration is perfectly complemented here, overlaying a delightful pattern by William Morris.
