Redoute White Roses Throw
May we introduce you to Redouté? Starting from humble beginnings, he was to meet some of the rich and powerful before, during, and after the French Revolution. Pierre-Joseph Redouté was an extraordinary man. And the delicate expressiveness of his paintings is awe-inspring. Born in Belgian Luxembourg at 13 to earn his living as an itinerant painter, and by 23 he was painting scenery for small theaters in Paris. Then fate jumped in: There he met the botanist L'Héritier who steered him toward precise botanical illustration and became his teacher. L'Héritier introduced Redouté to members of the court at Versailles, which led to Marie Antoinette becoming his patron. Eventually he received the title of Draughtsman and Painter to the Queen's Cabinet. We are thrilled to bring his magic to your bedroom.
