Azalea blossoms from the genus Rhododendrun are vibrant in the spring. One particular artist who captures the beauty and vibrance of Azaleas was Leon Wyczolkowsky. Born in Huta Miastowska near Garwolin, Wyczolkowski began his artistic career in the genre of historical painting, adopting realism in portraits. After a visit to Paris, he changed his focus and painted dramatic landscapes, nudes and pastoral scenes in impressionist strokes that reflected a balance of light and abstraction.
