In each dynastic rule, governing officials of imperial China had portraits painted of them in full regalia. Colors and motifs symbolized status and heritage. Here in vivid detail, portraits of Emperor Jiaqing and Empress Xiachuizhang of the Qing Dynasty are printed on the front and back of our silky polyester pillows. Each pillow is encased with a feather down insert accessible at the bottom through an invisible zipper.

“If men could learn from history, what lessons it might teach us. But passion and party blind our eyes, and the light which experience gives us is a lantern on the stern, which shines only on the waves behind us.”― Samuel Taylor Coleridge

The new year is always a poignant time to look ahead to what's new. In the January 2017 edition of LDB Interior Textiles, the team with editor Wanda Jankowski do a great job analyzing trends and offering insights into what markets will showcase in the season. We are so honored to have our Flaming June pillow featured on the cover.
As we celebrated New Years this past weekend, we are reminded from Helen Hunt Jackson in her poem "New Year's Morning" (1892) that each morning marks a new day. Here are a few lines from an inspirational prose that ends with:
Only a night from old to new;
Only a sleep from night to morn.
The new is but the old come true;
Each sunrise sees a new year born.
A Dream Within A Dream
- Edgar Allen Poe
Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow --
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.
I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand --
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep — while I weep!
O God! Can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?
